Cessna CitationJet CJ2

Overview

The Cessna CitationJet CJ2 is one of the most versatile light private jets available in Australia. It seats 6 passengers in comfort, but can carry up to 7 passengers with a single-pilot. Not only does the CJ2 enable speed and comfort at an affordable price, but it also offers the convenience of operating into airstrips most other jets cannot.

Altitude Aviation can also provide the smaller, but equally impressive 4-5 passenger CitationJet, the CJ1. To discuss the advantages of these aircraft, feel free to contact our Charter Manager, Glen Somerville, who regularly flies both the CitationJet CJ1 and CJ2.

Cabin/Seating Layout

The CJ2 cabin layout features 4 seats in club configuration, plus a 5th and 6th seat towards the rear cabin. The seats can slide forward and rearward to provide maximum room and comfort depending on the number of passengers to be carried. There is a toilet situated in the rearmost section of the cabin and a spacious galley area in the forward cabin behind the crew compartment.

Luggage Storage

The CitationJet has a separate rear baggage area for passenger luggage. Some baggage can be also stowed in the rear cabin. The aircraft also has storage space in two nose lockers, which are often set aside for crew bags and aircraft equipment.

Airstrip Capability

Not only does the CitationJet CJ2 enable speed and comfort at an affordable price, but it also offers the convenience of operating into airstrips most other jets cannot, including Lord Howe Island and Lizard Island, both with less than 950m of available runway. The aircraft can also land at narrow airfields where other jets are also limited.

Powerplant

The CJ2 is powered by two 10.2 kN (2300lb) Williams Rolls-Royce FJ44-2C turbofans, which are 20 percent more powerful than those used in the CJ1. The engines are fitted with thrust attenuators which close hydraulically to suppress residual thrust while taxiing. Whilst the aircraft doesn't have full thrust reversers, it still has one of the best short-field capabilites of any jet.

Avionics

The CitationJet CJ2 avionics include full glass cockpit Electronic Flight Instrumentation System (EFIS) and modern Flight Director/Autopilot system, Flight Management System, Dual Global Positioning System (GPS), and Radar Altimeter.

The CJ2 also features Traffic Collision and Avoidance System (TCAS) and Ground Proximity Warning Systems (GPWS) to assure you are travelling to the highest level of safety.

History

The CJ2 is the second model in the CitationJet line of aircraft, and first entered service in December 2000.

The CitationJet is a modernised version of the original Citation versions, the main changes being a new laminar flow wing and a T-tail configured tailplane as well as a modern avionics suite. The highly successful CitationJet was developed as a replacement for the Citation and Citation I. Cessna launched the new Model 525 CitationJet in 1991, and the first delivery was in March, 1993.

The CitationJet is effectively an all-new aircraft compared to older Citation models. Cessna has since released larger versions in the CitationJet line, 7 passenger CJ3 (Dec 04) and soon the 8 passenger CJ4. The CitationJet family is proving immensely popular as a modern light jet.
